PROPERTY & INFRASTRUCTURE

CARE Uganda owns a five acre fenced plot of land in Kayango, Uganda, known as the Kayango Children’s Kiddukiro, or KCK. In Luganda, Kiddukiro means “refuge” and for these children, this is exactly what this piece of property represents.

The climate in Uganda is quite tropical and conducive for many types of agricultural endeavors. On the KCK property, the children raise corn, beans and fruit bearing trees, as well as goats and chickens. The farm-type atmosphere is a way for them to learn about the agrarian lifestyle of their community as it creates a way for the property to have some self-sustaining attributes.

KCK Property

  1. Water well that provides water for the entire community

  2. Two-story school building complete with classrooms, offices, and dorm rooms (CARE Uganda Education Centre)

  3. Large multipurpose building that acts as community meeting place and a care point for children on holiday

  4. Upgraded kitchen built by the Ugandan staff and community
